Days Out Tyne And Wear Things
To Do T&W UK
Tyne and Wear lies in the North East of England, and was
created in 1974 when the ancient Anglo-Saxon county of Northumbria was
divided in two - the other half becoming Northumberland.
On the
southern approach to Tyneside on the A1, the 'Angel of the North' stands
20 metres tall. This modern steel sculpture by Turner Prize winning sculptor
Antony Gormley is now considered to be a landmark for North East England.
