Cumbria

Days Out Cumbria & Things To Do Lake District UK

Cumbria lies in the north west region of England, bordering Scotland. The county is home to the Lake District National Park, the first and largest national park in England. 14 million tourists flock to the county every year to see the breathtaking scenery, made up of mountains, streams, valleys and lakes.

The modern county of Cumbria was created in 1974, by combining the area of the old counties of Cumberland and Westmorland , as well as the Furness part of Lancashire, and a small protrusion of Yorkshire. The county town of Cumbria is Carlisle, originally an early Roman settlement.
