Buckinghamshire

Days Out Buckinghamshire & Things To Do Bucks UK

The county of Buckinghamshire is unusually long and thin, measuring approximately 50 miles by 10 miles, and is a mix of urban and rural land accessible for commuters working in London, Oxford or even Birmingham. The M40 motorway runs along the southern border past Beaconsfielsd and High Wycombe heading west, whilst the M1 leads to Milton Keynes and the north. The county town is Aylesbury, not Buckingham as you might expect.

To the south of Aylesbury, the beautiful Chiltern Hills cut across the county from southwest to northeast. The Chilterns lie only a few miles north-west of London and yet they are an unspoilt area of rolling chalk hills, magnificent beechwoods, clear streams, quiet valleys and charming villages. It is easy to see why many people call Bucks the most attractive Home County of them all.
